In comparison to the half-marathon it is a two times longer competition. You will now discover what you need to know about these two outstanding events!

About eDreams Mitja Marató Barcelona

The half marathon passes through the most significant streets of Barcelona. The route is about 21 km long. It takes the participants from the Arc de Triomf, through the old town to the Plaça Catalunya. From there, it proceeds along Avenida del Parallel and down the well-known Ramblas. It then passes through Barcelona’s modernist Eixample neighborhood before returning to the Arc de Triomf, Parc de la Ciutadella, and one of the city’s most remarkable structures, the Torre Agbar. The course leads the runners along the Diagonal before heading to the Fòrum and continuing along the coastline to reach once more Parc de la Ciutadella, Arc de Triomf – the finishing line. The temperatures allow you to to feel comfortable enough – it is neither cold nor unbearably warm. We would say the average temperature is around 15 C during the day, with very little chance of rain.

About Zurich Marató Barcelona

When it comes to Zurich Marató Barcelona the route is 42 km. In the same location, Avenida de La Reina Maria Cristina, is where the route starts and ends (Placa Espanya). La Gran Via and the Diagonal, the city’s two longest avenues, are traversed by participants. They pass by Casa Batllo, La Pedrera, and La Sagrada Familia – Gaudi’s masterpieces. The beach is visible until you reach Diagonal Mar and the Agbar Tower at the opposite end of Barcelona. The rest of the marathon’s distance is then run along the coastline, which is probably the toughest part. Before reaching the Christopher Columbus monument and turning around to return down Parallel Avenue to the finish line in Plaza Espanya, the Arc de Triomphe and the Gothic Cathedral are the two primary landmarks to be crossed. The following map from Zurich Marató Barcelona depicts the route very well:

Considering the weather is ideal for running, this is perhaps the finest time of the year to break your personal record. In Barcelona March has quite mild temperatures, convinient for this challenge. The circumstances and the diversified route make participants feel comfortable and go the distance with more ease.
